Detail Lily - Printed on Canvas
Lily explores grief, loss, and the imagined world that may exist beyond our own when someone dies. Within the larger composition, a recurring figure moves through this otherworldly landscape, collecting small boats that carry souls.
This detail captures one moment from that journey. The figure appears to navigate a space suspended between worlds — part landscape, part passage, part memory. The boats become symbols of transition, carrying those who have left the physical world into something unknown.
Rather than presenting death as a final disappearance, Lily imagines it as movement: a passage from one place into another. The figure acts as a quiet presence within that transition, gathering and guiding the souls that continue onward.
The monochrome palette gives the work a timeless, dreamlike quality, while the layered architecture and organic forms suggest a world that exists just beyond what can be seen or understood.
Printed on textured cotton-poly canvas with fine latex inks, the artwork preserves the tonal depth, delicate linework, and hand-drawn character of the original piece. A 1.25" pine frame gives the canvas a clean, gallery-ready finish.
