Mica explores the experience of playing a game of chess against your own reflection. The chessboard becomes a symbolic space in which every move is both an action and a response — a confrontation with your own thoughts, choices, and patterns.
The opposing side is not truly separate. It mirrors the player, turning the game into an inner dialogue about control, doubt, strategy, and consequence. Every decision influences the position that follows, just as our own actions continuously shape the way we see and understand ourselves.
Organic forms surround the chessboard like a shifting psychological landscape, while the contrast between flowing lines and the strict geometry of the game reflects the tension between intuition and calculation.
Printed on textured cotton-poly canvas with fine latex inks, the artwork preserves the expressive lines, layered colors, and painterly character of the original piece. A 1.25" pine frame gives the canvas a clean, gallery-ready finish.
